Roebear,

I heard CNBC talking about Buffett in the late afternoon.

Too bad he bought physical silver and not HL.

Maybe we'll start to see a bounce now, it's been seriously lagging the metal.

Roebear:

For every $.50 increase in silver's price, HL makes approximately $.05 a share; and the same for each $10.00 move in gold. I suspect, Hecla will show profitability, net of preferred dividends in the quarter ending Mar. 1998. The quarter ending December, 1997, may show a penny or two, net of preferred dividends.

Down the line, as prices persist, and recovery in gold is firm, Hecla will eventually earn about $1.00, and then some. However, those investors using standard price/earnings ratios will sell to early, and buy too late.

Yours, T.V.H.
