You are right, the 'average' user already has more power at his finger tips than he will ever use! I have to 'convince' them to continue to upgrade so that I CAN GET MORE FEATURES! I sure couldn't afford the time or money to do it myself. I am testing a voice recognition package that I couldn't possibly have written in any reasonable time!

Never said that spreadsheets did not proliferate in the financial world, I'm just questioning the productivity gains that result from adding the same two numbers with a newer spreadsheet. >

They don't have to waste time having someone re-email them a file that they couldn't read because they don't have the latest upgrade. The same reason I even use excel at all. Compatibility. Once microsoft gets the upgrade installed by enough people, other people are forced to upgrade.
