I agree with you, the bond market is telling us that inflation isn't really an issue, but maybe not right now... or at all...

BUT, if the bond market continues higher and the dollar weakens, then that alone is the definition of inflation, e.g., that it would cost more to buy the same amount of goods, with a lower dollar things would cost more...

I think for real inflation to take hold we would also need the velocity of the dollar to increase significantly, this would require the economy to be up and running full speed ahead in which retail supply can't keep up with demand...

That could happen very easily, but the jury is still out on that, the jury is the bond market...

Since these markets more before common knowledge is aware, I think watching the bond market would be the early warning signal for inflation...
