It's much less about a GSM than it was a couple years ago. A GSM is a small insult added to the injury of the magnetosphere. If McIntosh et al. are correct, all the other forecasts for cycle 25 will be way off and we'll wish they'd been right. It would be a very intense cycle and our magnetosphere (civilization) wouldn't stand a chance as cycle 25 runs up to its peak; which will be quite soon. There are dozens and dozens of separate forecasts made by separate groups. Many others have similar forecasts as Zharkova. None can be favored over the other. Only time will tell who gets credit for what.
