Duane,

Glad you're back. Missed your posts.

Still hanging in with LSI. Did you get the hole-in-one? I've made only one in 35yrs and when I made it I had just retired the first time and two of the guys in the group were arguing and the other was walking off to find his shank!<G> However, the latter did see the shot, so I did have a witness.

GO PAIR, LSI, SGR and LSU!!!

Duane:

> Meanwhile, tell me: Is this rally for real?

I dont know! It seems too good to be true! And if past is any indication of future I think then this rally is for real! Reason: Most money managers (if not all) have been holding on to their cash in the fear of South East Asian problems. On top of that the sentiments have increasingly turned into negative and at best skeptical (similar to Dipy). This is a very bullish sign in my opinion. Also if you look at the short interest on tech stocks (especially semis) you will see that they have doubled from their average. For wahetever reason a few big boys are buying the semis (LSI, LRCX, AMAT, INTC, etc.). I have a very very strong feeling soon the following 2 things will happen:

1. Money managers with cash are forced to put that money into use in the light of momentum that is taking place with the semis. After all at the end of this quarter they have to answer their share holders as why they have been holding on to 15%-20% cash, while the market has been going up!

2. A lot of shorters will be squeezed in a delightfully horrible way as they will soon be running to cover their rear end. Thus adding more fuel to the stock prices.

So unless of course some extra ordinary horrible thing does not happen in South East Asia (such as China devaluating its currency, or something worse happens to the Japanese economy) I think this rally is for real! As for how long it would stay, well that is a whole different story! My guess is perhaps through the first 2 weeks of March or just before the Q1 earnings are about to come out!

Regards,
