IBM was a 60 billion company, Lotus was less than 2 billion in revenues. That was similar to the CPQ/TDM deal which most people liked.

Nope, this doesn't fit the bill of 2 large companies merging. Also whenever companies merge to become #1 they invariably fail.

COMS/USRX merged and said they were BIG and could take on CSCO...they crashed.

SNPX/WFLT did the same they wanted to beat Cisco, so did Univac/Burroughs..

Now its CPQ/DEC they want to be BIG and beat IBM... Its going to be a tough road.
