I think most cars sold by the end of this decade will be electric cars. You are right that a car lasts 15 years (20 years is stretch) which would mean that fossil fuel will be around 15 years more, which get’s us to 2045. however usage will decline well before that and there could be a point, where gas stations will think out to the point where it will be less convenient to own a gas car. than an electric car way before that.

The reason why I believe the adoption will accelerate is because we are in the early innings of the S-curve or adoption. Further adoption will be field by rapidly decreasing unit costs for batteries.

At the same time, most efficiencies for ICE engines have been squeezed out, so it is clear where this is going.

NG should be around for a long time, Imo. It is one of the most efficient and clean energy sources. Ideal for heating as you can have 90% efficiency fairly easily. I see it outlasting gasoline fora long time.
