In the Jan. 27 edition of Communications Daily, Joseph Zell, President of U S West Enterprise Networking Services, is quoted as saying that:

"Only about 50%-75% of subscriber lines would be able to use ADSL technology because of condition of local networks or distance from central office."

If the number is near the 50% level, I think that is good news for LMDS because it means that many customers may not have a choice between ADSL and LMDS -- it's LMDS or nothing!

Here is another entry into the make it faster, make it cheaper, make it POTS arena. No doubt in my mind that speed and expense are the key issues.
