He's absolutely right! The pilot programs are already an obsolete concept, as is the "Gee. Let's try to convince the engineers" approach. The new rules are:

1) Pay TAVA.

2) If not convinced, see #1 above.

Re Emerald: Another interesting point that went by rather quickly was the remark that currently MIS and the plant control layers usually are not joined in any meaningful fashion.

Jenkins went on to point out that one of the lasting benefits of the MIS people having to think about Y2K issues in the control layer would be follow-up work to better integrate real-time information coming from the plant floor into the Management Information Systems.

I think this is a big hint from Jenkins re where he sees lots of work for the company after Year 2000.

Also at the Emerald conference, Jenkins mentioned that they made a presentation for a pilot to the world's largest semi-conductor manufacturer, which translated into an order last week.
They also made a presentation to a pharmaceutical company for a remediation roll out plan. The presentation was made to the company's board of directors, which is significant. The board of directors must be involved in approving a significant expenditure of money. Millions of dollars!
