As a person who pays the high taxes - I'm not moving. I'm not going to retire in Arizona or Arkansas because I don't have to ... but you are right when people leave they take their politics with them.

Where is this Shangri-la where simply having lower costs make it such a better place to live? I read articles that make the claim - and then there are the details of no infrastructure, or religiosity or a number of other matters.

Look at the OTHER rankings for #1 Washington state in the link below. Overall - it is number one - but it is an open carry state. I've lived there - it is damp and dark for half the year - some things are really good there, but others not so much. Minnesota - uh, maybe 4 or 5 months a year. But they have been in the news a lot...

It is worth checking out this list and look at how widely things vary. Utah? Great place to visit - but I wouldn't want to live there.
