I guess you did not se the videos of the Korean shop owners defending their property during the Rodney King riots in LA. They stood on the roofs with Uzis & Kalashnikovs and dared the rioters to come and play.
That doesn't happen anymore. Rooftop Koreans made for great memes, but these days many Asian-American store owners don't carry firearms. Reasons vary, including complacency, more stringent gun control laws, cost, and a general sense of passivity.

I should probably clarify one thing, however. When Asians get profiled by thugs, often it's the elderly Asians who are targeted. They tend to walk alone, they tend to carry cash and valuables on themselves, and they tend to be unarmed. They also have a tough time speaking English, so they're more likely to not report it to police.
