A friend had once carried 150 pounds of gold, repatriating from HK to California, and henceforth every time he crossed US border he met hassles... LOL!!! I understand that, of course... but you have to laugh... that the purpose of the government is... preventing people from bringing gold INTO the country ? What sense does that make ? India very strict about it... so have a massive smuggling problem ? Wouldn't it make more sense to ENCOURAGE people to bring you fresh gold... rather than punish them ? Might be interesting to study it so see where on the planet that is true... I assume Dubai would top the list... but, lots of other reasons to not choose living there...
