qz, if my theory about somebody [( Vivus management through a broker buying own stock, or a Mutual Fund (s) )] supporting Vivus' price is correct, it will be proven very simply by subsequent events as follows: ( First however I want to say that I don't think you need to buy all the shares. Just the ones being shorted, i.e. being offered at times of price downward pressure. The rest of the time you just let new buyers support the price). If theory is correct, then as I was saying, sooner or later the shorts are going to see that the price is climbing steadily up and that they are unsuccessful in taking it down. At that point, the shorts, which I believe happen to be the same human beings as the rest of us, will do what the rest of us frequently do in the stock market; panic. At that point they will cover. I think that 16 is psychological resistance and they know it. If we get to 20 and price is steady, there is no reason it shouldn't continue to go up gradually as people see that the market is headed down next quarter but Vivus sales are immune to market forces, plus all the good news coming up.
So once over 16 I think the move to 20 will be faster. My next buy will be at 16.7 because that is were I 1st started in ~ May 97 accumulating the stock in giant amounts that gave me a one
bagger in 2 months : The 16.7 buy will be mostly for "sentimental reasons ( can't always forget about that, gg ), to celebrate the occasion, and as a good luck charm, gg.

- Vivus is behaving exactly how several of us predicted it would back in December.

- If you recall, when Vivus was in the $9-10 range, everyone said the sell-off was tax-related and bore no relation to the fundamentals of the company. Sure enough, the January effect has lifted the stock to the $15 level.

- And as previously predicted, I think the analysts are going to come back on board. Mutual funds will start accumulating. And the relatively cheap VVUS stock will go from $15 to $25 by quarter-end - 3/31/98. And the shorts are toast.

Out.
