August,

I know some people will gag at the commission, but I've had absolutely no problem with Schwab. Their current commission for online trading is 29.95 for 1000 or less shares + .03/share for all shares over a 1000. Obviously if you're an active day trader or play a lot of micros, this might get pricey.

Because I have a Schwab Select account (not sure what I did to qualify for that), when I call Schwab's Select-line with a question or some non-trading activity, I get a HUMAN BEING on the first ring. I've never had to sit on hold, and the service is great. I really appreciate that, and I guess I'm willing to pay for it with the higher commission.

There's my $29.95-worth.
