I first saw the fawn when it was just maybe an hour old, barely dry yet.

What a precious sight that must have been.

My husband passed by a fawn on an island out on the river several yrs ago when he went out to do some fly fishing. He didn't bother it as he knew that mom had instructed the little darling to lie completely still and not move a muscle until she returned. Imo you're lucky to have that birth happen so near to where you live. I know if that had happened here I'd grow very fond of the little guy.

I completely sympathize with your perspective regarding the roses.

Everyone knows that rose bushes thrive after pruning. ;)
