When I restored my one room school (took me 8 summers) I had the joy of using my skid steer, and renting a trencher and mini excavator.

I really had a blast with the excavator. I had built a ramp that allowed me to make a garage out of the building's second room which was added in 1957.

Since we have very cold winters the foundations had to be dug 48 inches below the surface to prevent frost heaving. It was a larger series mini excavaTor AND HAD HUGE POWER

I'm in the planning stage of building my car shed. Got the survey work done this week. Need it to go to the building permit variance committee ( I'm close to a river).

I'm thinking of doing the excavation work myself - not sure, I made need a bigger unit.

I picked most of my scapes on Friday but for now they are going to remain in the fridge because it is far too hot to even thinking about cooking here in Vancouver than to the record-breaking heat wave. (Lytton in the interior of BC yesterday broke the all-time record for Canada, recording 46.6C.)

This morning by opening everything up and using fans I managed to get the temperature in my apartment down to 30C. It going to be even worse tonight, with the low in Vancouver predicted to be 24, pretty amazing given the normal HIGH temp for this date being 21C.

I am subsisting on no-cook meals till it starts to cool off.

For those who might not know, it never gets this hot here, so very few people have AC.
