TOKYO (Nikkei)--The Association of Multimedia Developers and Culture Publishers
Inc., an affiliate of leading video rental chain Culture Convenience Club Co., will
cooperate on transferring high-quality CD-ROM contents into the digital videodisc
(DVD) format. The industry body and the company plan to hold a meeting in Tokyo in
late February to seek participation by CD-ROM software makers.

As a start, around 20 titles, mainly in the fields of edutainment, adventure games and
music, are expected to be released as DVDs.

Culture Publishers faces the need to expand the range of DVD titles available for rental
from the current movie-dominated lineup. As for multimedia software makers, converting
CD-ROM titles into DVDs will enable them to reach a market beyond personal computer
users.
