The MIT article is overly long and wanders all over the place, but the most encouraging takeaway is that the focus of the UBI advocates has shifted from a universal basic income to a guaranteed income that is targeted to address a specific need.

I am going to be particularly interested in seeing how the expanded Child and Dependent Tax Credit program plays out. I believe that it is going to lift a lot of families above the poverty line. Unfortunately, the program ends at the end of the year. I would like to see it extended for at least another year, which would provide more data for analysis.
