Politicians around the world understand that fomenting nationalism increases their chances of gaining and retaining power. When the game is played among nuclear armed powers the danger of accidents or over played hands are real risks. I suspect the odds of nuclear weapons not being used in a major way in the future is low. Hopefully, the nuclear powers will wait until I have exhausted the last entry in the actuarial tables before doing their thing.
