BC, Cheap easy solutions were abandoned for the purpose of intubating patients and getting paid triple here in the US. When someone's life is at stake, you don't rely on "cheap and easy" solutions unless your resources are limited. Would you settle for "cheap and easy" solutions if you had trouble with a basic life function like breathing?
