Skepticism is reason... when there are solid proofs that a lack of trust is well founded.

In crafting a properly reasoned approach to one's own risks, as they are faced with ones own reason... it thus becomes increasingly important to note the nature of the limits operative in the efforts of others. That inherently includes the reasons for the lack of trust being better elucidated... to refine a view of what "that" means in terms of future risks...

I find it inordinately foolish to even consider crafting a vaccine in a way that, deliberately (or not), not only does not confer functional immunity against its target, but instead potentially opens holes in immunity that might be exploited by future mutations... which will be true, whether they have evolved naturally... or not.

Do I want to allow any country, or any drug company, or any billionaire megalomaniac who thinks it a good idea... to install a kill switch in me ? No. I don't.

However, as I am not going to make my own vaccine that meets my personal criteria for function and safety... and transparency ? I find it more useful to "first do no harm" to myself... and, then, proceed to address for myself those easily identified weaknesses in the public systems approach to the prevention or management of the risks...

"Masks don't work".... is wrong. "Masks that don't work... don't work"... is correct. So, I will ignore the public health officers opinions on masks... and apply the best science that is available... while they ignore it. We've learned, this year, that our prior understanding of masking requirements was... entirely in error... not because there wasn't any science to apply to the problem... but only because the medical people did not apply that science, or ask reasonable scientific questions, when they wrote their standards. Science had it right. Medicine had it wrong.

They took one paper, written a long time ago, that claimed correctly that 5 microns was proven to prevent transmission of tuberculosis... and then through sheer ignorance... generalized that to claim both that 5 microns in mask pore size was "good enough" for everything... while larger particles were deemed "not a risk"... because they simply fell out of the air. They basically just made that part up out of whole cloth.

Physical reality is... particles as large as 100 microns in a droplet... can easily remain airborne for extended periods... the influence of gravity being easily overcome by the combination of random air convection and the influence of brownian motion on particles of that size...

The meaning... is that ever since that error was enshrined as "truth" versus the medical myth it is now proven to be... they've said "colds and flue are not airborne transmissible"... but that's wrong. Remember, the last time Ebola was spreading... and all that hoopla about whether it had mutated to become an airborne threat... that explaining the sudden spread ? Well... that was bogus... it was always an airborne threat... etc.

Trust the science... to be as good as it can be within its limits... but, "the science" is not the same thing as "the experts"... and particularly now the "self proclaimed experts"... who propagate myths they've been taught to believe as "truth"... while refusing to acknowledge the legitimacy of "real science"... that is never afraid to have a question asked... while properly expecting something better in response than regurgitated opinions re learned myths ?

So, the random spacing of social distancing ? Totally useless... versus a real requirement... given the now known truth of the scaling issues in airborne particulates. If you are in the same room with someone... you are not socially distanced from them... That means a proper mask is MORE important now than they thought... but, it also means the masks they've been pushing are totally useless...

Get a supply of N100 masks to keep on hand... as those WILL work... and you might need them... "soon"... if the next variant... or the next virus... proves to be as much or more of a problem as Covid...

And, blah, blah, blah... repeat all the other stuff re nutrition, health, drugs that work, etc., but, remember, how long did it take before they figured out "what works"... ?

Preparing to address the next virus... as well or better than the current one ? That's a good idea... but, see no effort being made by officialdom to learn and apply any lessons ?

But, then, the current problem... is not even over yet ?. But, the public effort made has long since bifurcated and attained grid lock... and simply quit trying to find improvements that can be made... to make the world a safer place... now and in the future ?

So, you have to do that for yourself. If you can't make the world a safer place for everyone... you still have to work at making yourself safer in a less safe world...

The CDC stopped tracking most COVID-19 cases in vaccinated people. That makes it hard to know how dangerous Delta really is.

It also makes their reporting on mortality statistics into total bull shite...
