systems of government should be judged according to “whether the people in the country are satistfied...

Democracy is exactly that...

It is a system for determining IF the people are satisfied... AND correcting errors. Only, a Democracy does that... not as an opinion poll (or more aggressive forms of surveillance generating information) to be digested and then used by the officials who are responsible for causing the lack of satisfaction... to enable them in triangulating responses to the dis-satisfaction. Enabling that, instead of Democracy, might well drive primary efforts that are focused on suppression of people's rights to express dis-satisfaction... as China does, routinely... with Hong Kong currently an obvious case in point.

Democracy, instead, RESOLVES the problem at the point of its origin... by changing the government...

That Democracy changes the leadership... does not deny failed politicians a chance to reconsider their errors and correct them... and plead their case to be given a second chance... it only denies them the ability to conduct that analysis while continuing the imposition of their errors... including that in refusing to allow the errors to be recognized.

So, Democracy is both more honest in its judgement... first... as WHO determines whether the people in the country are satisfied... is not enabled as a source of fraud... or manipulated by a controlled media... enabling the corrupt to ignore the judgement...

As happens in the United States... under those influences that have been applied in recent elections...

The subversion of the judgement of the people... destroys nothing in their judgement, or in their will... but obstructs progress by fostering rule by the least competent and most corrupt...

Again. as is clearly the case in the United States today.

Obstruction of more functional modes of determining satisfaction... is sustained as a cost... and is brittle...
