They televised the EV something race last weekend. They're basically electric Indy cars. Pretty impressive acceleration and speed but it is a lot of strategy since the batteries don't hold enough charge to go max effort the whole race. They had "attack" lanes that recharge the battery as you drive in them so you can hammer down later etc.
Problem is, the sound of the race was exactly like the toy electric track I had as a kid growing up.

After a few years of quiet, there will be a nostalgia fad. Speakers will be hung on the outside of your 600-pound single-seat bamboo-frame EV. The car’s AI will play recorded sounds, so (with your eyes closed) you think you are in a diesel tractor-trailer. It’s OK to close your eyes, because software from AmazonFacebookAlphabet is driving. Steering wheels were made illegal years ago.
