They aren't on "vacation". Aside from the fact that the investigation will continue in August, there is likely to be a revolving door of members of the committee and their staff go back to their home district to see how it is playing back home and, likely, to fund raise. Then they will report back to committee how the grassroots is responding to it. Congress people who get reelected, unless they are in gerrymandered districts (which, admittedly, constitutes way too many districts these days) don't take many vacations. At least not in the sense in which civilians understand it.
