scott and robert...

the intellectual property concept
of patents is quite distinct and apart
from that of copyright, which is precisely:
the legal right to the expression of
an idea.

robert, correct, ideas are not copyrightable,
only their expression.

the province of patents is
much more tangible. just look at the
patent site to understand what kevin is saying,
specifically, the inevitable use of underlying patents,
etc.and the interrelation, overlaps,etc.
the seminal application may be used as a foundation,
but it may not be taken as one's own; it would have to relate back
to zenith...i hope i have added something, sometimes i
just am not sure:
my intention is well placed, anyway.

i would suggest paranoia be safely put to pasture in that regard,
anyway, robert.
