Ron, i think it is simple, take alife, lose a life. that would stop alot of killings, it is getting to far out of hand, here in Michigan, i really feel for the families. it is the worst thing that can happen in life. need way tougher laws, we need here capital punishment, very bad, all we have is Dr. K. joey

Well, of course, you'd protect yourself by any means possible, meaning, in the moment , possibly killing yourself.
But thats kinda my point. I suggest most on the death row probably deserve to be there, but, I suggest, some are no different than you or I. In saying that, in that moment that they commited their 'act'....they were lost to the moment. As a whole, again, if there is one guy not guilty, one guy that was lost to a moment, thats reason enuff against the death penalty.
You cannot kill members of society for killing members of society and expect members of that society to concur with relenting power to a gov't above the 'law'. This is supposedly a govt. for the people, by the people....we only reach agreement with equals, when govt' has power over you , the death penalty....it perpetuates murder as a punishment for members of society against members of society.

Ron;

Let me add my two cents worth.

Premeditated murder should result in the execution of the murderer, and life in prison for any accomplice.

Causing death when under the influence of drugs, alcohol or out of control emotions should be evaluated by the courts, taking the history of the perpetrator into consideration and setting the appropriate degree of punishment.
