Exactly my point - that is too abstract. We can't see viruses - it requires a type of belief. In some ways viruses are like the word of God. We believe it but have never verified it ourselves. To the uneducated - it is no different that believing in the Bible.

Of all the equipment I've used - a electron microscope is not amongst them so I can't "Testify!". However, I've never seen an X-ray star either despite using a telescope. I've seen lots of stars that can't be seen without a scope. I've seen craters on the moon that aren't visible without one.

We are dealing with a cognitive gap and a belief barrier - it is an inconvenient truth they are not prepared to think about because if they did they would have to consider all the other shit they believe without proof - we have to make it concrete. JMHO.
