Corsair Intel PC 100 Compliant RAM will be available in early FEB

This RAM is for the new 100MHz Intel BX chipsets. Corsair indicates that todays SDRAM should not be used in the soon to be released BX motherboards.

The PC 100 compliant SDRAM will work in todays 440LX motherboards. If one intends on upgrading to the 100MHz boards once they have been released and have become established go for the PC 100 compliant RAM . You will be able to move it forward to your next motherboard.

From Corsairs Web site

corsairmicro.com

>>The new Intel BX chipset motherboards should only use Intel PC100MHz modules. Due to the strict timing issues involved when operating at 100MHz, most systems will not even boot if non-compliant modules are used. Even if the system does boot, changes to the operating environment such as temperature or certain hardware applications will severely impact the reliability of the memory.<<

I wanted to know if the PC 100 compliant RAM is compatible with todays 440LX chipsets so I emailed them.

Here is my question:

>>Will the Corsair SDRAM that will be compatible with the Intel BX chipset also work with the Intel 440 LX chipsets?<<

And here is their response:

>>The new Intel PC100 SDRAM module specification for the BX calls out a brand new module on all the sizes - 32, 64 and 128MB. Our modules will be backward compatible to all the LX motherboards except Intel Original such as the AL440LX. Intel has changed the specification on the 64MB so that new modules will not be backward compatible to their own LX boards. Don't ask me why they did this but they did.<<
