Stephen,
First the analysis reprinted from the DEC board:
I guess the Bear Sterns article Kelvin posted explains the 1000 call contract buy I mentioned.
This may be leading to a reassessment of the new combined company. All that cash and the synergy that is perceived to be better than at first sight could keep this rally going for a while.
If CPQ is 3 times DEC and DEC is now perceived as being sold for 1/2 price, DEC could move to 70 (imho). The synergy factor is the wild card, not to mention how the stockholders will react to that assessment.

Now the off topic stuff about the topic:
The majority rules. I read the more than 10 responses to the banter issue and only one expressed concern they might miss a 'must read' for all the chatter. The rest LIKE the chatter. I LOVE the REALLY funny or wry stuff myself... I must warn you that some of us on the DEC thread can offer mindless or humorous chatter about the lesbian cowgirls in a Tom Robbins novel, or a can of beans that makes a cross country trip or what Howard Stern said this morning about Nancy Kerrigan or how my Oakland Raiders are due to make a comeback this year and win the Super Bowl or how I just bought 2,000,000 shares for my IRA or other off topic stuff...... but we probably won't.
