Respond to of 219525 Climate change alarmists appear to not have heard of tsunamis or bolides. NZ has no special merit regarding sea level change in 1 second, the only sea level change that matters. See Japan's tsunami problems for example. Or all around Sumatra as far as India as another example. There is also the large matter of volcanoes. Taupo in particular. Rotorua also. White Island/Matata at the eastern end of the vast rift. Taupo erupting will stop electricity north of the central plateau = dumbly, the government keeps blathering on about the White Island eruption as though it was significant. Their main obsession seems to be to go Maori on it and change the name to Whakaari [sp?] to be politically correct aka woke [the woke way of saying politically correct these days]. When [not if] Taupo goes kablooey in a world record explosion that destroys all the hydroelectric supply and the transmission from the south and the Huntly power station by river destruction, there will be no electricity for Auckland other than a few emergency generators at hospitals and whatnot, tiny ones using methane from rubbish dumps, sewage and the sprinkling of photovoltaics for personal use. Water to Auckland also mostly comes from Taupo and Waikato river, and that would end as the river filled with volcanic material. NZ as a bolt hole is still pretty good though. We have lived well above sea level for 43 years to avoid tsunamis. I stay well away from volcanoes but will visit them for a day or three. Unlike most volcanoes, Taupo won't give warning other than minutes on the appointed day which will be a 12 March, at which time super high tides and very low ground water and lake levels combine to reduce pressure and cause superheated liquids to phase change to gas, thereby resulting in geyser effect, powered further by combustion when hydrocarbons from subducted oceanic crust meets oxygen in air, sending cubic kilometres per minute 30 km into the sky. Our government is ignoring that. They are too busy being woke to worry about such vast reality. Afterwards they'll claim nobody could have known that it would happen. Here it is written down. If they do happen to read it, they would say I am not a government official, am a nut-job, am not important, don't have friends in favoured universities etc. am a conspiracy theorist anti-vaxxer, aren't Maori enough, or female or non-specific gender enough, and am an extreme right wing Nazi racist capitalist roader sexist misogynist homophobic islamophobe [I think that covers it but add epithet of choice] [Amusing that extreme right wing private property free enterprisers are confused with Nazi = national socialist = lefties]. My personal defects don't have any effect on Taupo erupting of course. NZ does sell NZ citizenships but far too cheaply. Larry Page picked one up by promising to invest NZ$10 million [hardly anything] for a few years. I say sell Tradable Citizenships for cash on the barrelhead, 10,000 per year, to the highest bidders. The price should be about NZ$5 million I guess. Maybe more as a lot of people would want them. They would continue to own the citizenship as a personal property right they could sell, and they wouldn't have to mess around with investing. But would enjoy full citizenship rights. The NZ government is so hopeless that they didn't even offer Larry Page his personal luxury quarantine accommodation with servants and security. He'd pay $millions and not notice it. Same with 10,000s of people who would like to hide out in NZ for a while until covid blows over, who could afford to pay for superior accommodation instead of the standard government-issue forced quarantine hotels. Covid19 is a great profit opportunity for NZ but the dopey government has turned it into a colossal cost with tourism shut and $100 billion wall to wall costs in businesses ruined. We could have had A380s chocka with people wanting to have a year's break from covid countries. A huge influx of money was declined. Quarantine and testing and covid treatment could have been a big cash flow opportunity. Mqurice
