IDC issued a report saying Sun Microsystems maintained its number one position in workstation revenues in 1997, and that Sun is the top supplier of UNIX workstations by both units and revenue. Sun shipped more than two and a half times the number of UNIX units than the second ranked vendor, Hewlett-Packard in 1997. According to IDC, Sun had total UNIX workstations shipments of 285,815 units compared with HP's shipment of 108,165 units. Sun Microsystems: 650 960-1300.
