<<The Novellus rumor appears alive and well -- Mr. Sam what's your thought on today's price movement? The Novellus rumor appears alive and well -- Mr. Sam what's your thought on today's price movement?>>

Just to clarify my position, I have heard no rumor about NVLS. I just speculated that such a marriage would make sense. The Board of Directors change certainly begged the question, I think. I still think that such a move would be in the best interest of both companies and should be considered.

As to the price move today, I am thrilled, of course! I called Karen Silva at SFAM IR to ask if there were any corporate developments or other explanations for the stock strength today. She said that there were none. As to my own speculation, a look at the intraday chart shows steady buying in large blocks (about 30,000 shares at a time). I'd say that some institution or brokerage house was probably establishing a position, and then the momentum crowd pushed it higher still. The next significant resistance is $38-$40. We may take a while to consolidate our gains, though, before we see those numbers. It will be interesting to see how the momentum players react when they read in the papers tomorrow that our little company rose 27% on almost 500% of normal volume. It should be an interesting day.

There is a possibility, of course, that some corporate development, such as a buyout, has been leaked, but I always encourage people to refrain from acting on that kind of speculation. It is illegal to do so if such information is from a good (inside) source, and it is imprudent and expensive to do so if such information is from idle speculation. Just one person's opinion, of course.
