It seems to me that I can significantly leverage CSCO's expected long term return by selling if the stock gets ahead of itself, as it is now, and getting back in with about 15% more shares after a pullback to say 57. Smart or too greedy? Comments appreciated.

I never said I was going to short it. I am a long term investor, but there are many out there who are looking for short term profits. I believe that the stock is a little overpriced, and I think it will drop pretty soon, but I am holding onto my shares. Plus, I don't have the money for taxes on ALL the profit I would make!!

An astute observation.

Virtually everyone who shorts loses in the long run.

The second lesson is to pick "losers" for short candidates, not the winners!
