much appreciated.

from that conclusion (2012):
--poor countries being more risk tolerant than rich countries--

confirmed by 2019 research:
"...The most important difference between countries consisted in poorer countries
showing systematically higher levels of risk tolerance
than richer countries..."
onlinelibrary.wiley.com

here's a 2019 'study' (not research) about u.s. folks:
"... The Harris Poll... found less than half of American investors were comfortable with taking
financial risks in order to realize financial returns, with nearly a third (30%) having an extremely
low financial risk tolerance, versus 14% of risk takers at the opposite end of the spectrum having
a high degree of risk tolerance.

...Americans who are risk averse to investing are more inclined to play it safe across many
other areas of their lives including their careers, where they chose to live, the activities they
pursue and their social lives. The instinct to preserve and protect is evident in these numbers, and
while that's a positive and healthy tendency, it's also possible to be overly cautious due to
uncertainty..."
fa-mag.com

these studies/research suggest that u.s. citizens are not very risk tolerant... though not conclusive.
and that, maybe, increased uncertainty is directly related to increased risk avoidance.

haven't, yet, found anything about how risk tolerance/avoidance changes over time due to social conditions.
