I think the KGB are old school. They figured out Svetlana could win a super power cold war, single handedly, with just an air display in a Yak-41 and dinner. Lockheed signed every piece of paper put in front of them. That is my guess. Of course all the info is restricted and super secret. Are we surprised? NATO calls the Yak41 "Freestyle". I think their technical specialists have been spending too much time on utube as well. The UK and the RAF scrapped the plans for a new Harrier and went with the Russian Yak -41 variant prototype. What changed their minds so abruptly? Forget all that technical bs. Those arguments would have gone on for eons. I think I have shown the answer -ggg-
