When I played volleyball, we had a guy on our team that could really jump. I asked him what his workout routine was and he said all he did was duck walk the whole time he was at home. He was single so he didn't have to worry about looking silly. Everytime he got up to go to the kitchen, bathroom etc, he duck walked.
I still do toe raises in the shower leaning against the wall for resistance. One leg in the air, go until you can't do anymore then switch legs. Keep switching until you can't do anymore then do both legs until exhausted to finish off. I could get my armpits over the net. Hitters hated me, I could block just about everyone including some Olympic players I crossed paths with in various tournaments. My knees were pretty much shot by the time I learned the duck walking trick so couldn't do it.
