Well done, Max. When my wife and I have kids, I will do the same thing for them. They will grow up with computers as their best friend. Kind of scary, huh?

Nice post Max - I agree with you completely, and you did not even include the 'obsolescence' factor. Many on these threads have mentioned that their families have multiple machines, and many have mentioned they are constantly upgrading. My wife and I are up to 4 machines, although two could be considered close to 'stone age', so we will be upgrading this year with another laptop and desktop. As for Compaq, it's nice to see it move a bit, if only to stop those annoying McCoy/Stockman posts:

McCoy - BUY INTEL, SELL COMPAQ, GET ON A WINNING BUS!!!!!

Stockman - WHY IS DELL AT NEW HIGHS, AND COMPAQ IS 25% BELOW NEW HIGHS!!!

We are slowly rendering those posts meaningless, let's hope it continues. I still think that on a PSR basis in comparison with Dell, Compaq looks like a bargain.

John

You're right about families needing 2 or more computers....Our kids are only 4 and 1, but we've seriously considered getting another computer for the 4 year old since they are so reasonable now. The one computer we have is in almost constant use with only 3 users. I'm just amazed at the stuff my 4 year old can do on the computer. I can see us having 2 or more computers in the very near future, and know several families who are already there.
