don't save and buy buy buy.

There seems to be a trend to force consumption into a subscription model. I used to use a photo-editing program which I liked. Changes to windows means it no longer works. I can't buy a newer model of the program, I can only rent it .

Cars, vacation homes, and party dresses are all trending to this subscription model. In a typical maturing of the market there will be a lot of little owners to work out the model, followed by consolidation by large companies who have the resources to store and deliver, kind of like Amazon combined with Airbnb.

If that trend continues then the divide between those who own something, and those who just have to send out money to use anything will widen. I don't look forward to that kind of economy.
