robb...........buy it big time, just to short it....no,your thinking too much........it's just your basic supply demand....more buyers than sellers in this stock and also the same thing w/VECO......

Rob,

I don't believe that shorts would buy it up in such quantity to short it later. Someone mentioned to me the idea of a company buyback, but since SFAM didn't know why the stock had moved, that didn't make much sense either.

I think the rumor of takeover is still the best yet, other than the statistical fluke of everyone deciding at once that it was time to buy SFAM.
