A lot of Rock and Roll was complex. George Harrison's "Dirty Chords". Minor keys, frequent chord changes, political messages in harmony. Rock/pop in the 60s-80s was far above what I hear on the radio now with a couple words repeated ad-nausium, minimal notes, songs written by unknown composers sitting in cubicles being paid by the song thus rewarding quantity over quality. Many of the voices sound the same. If tone deaf, no problem because auto-tune will fix it. Star power is now based on who has the best sob story about their background made up by a marketing team that could write soap operas.
Art is a joke today. I've heard better singers in karaoke bars than the radio. Better sculptures and paintings in hobby shops than galleries.
