I have been told by people at Microsoft that Bill Gates essentially has NO SECURITY.

(He has it for his family, his sister, etc.)

Yes, he walks around Comdex - I saw him back in November walk up to a refreshment stand 10 yards from me, and it was clear that no type of security (within 20 yards at least) was present. (This was at the end of the day, right before closing, when things were slow.)

Microsoft has installed bulletproof windows and doors in their buildings recently.

But Bill refuses any kind of tight security.

Much as I dislike certain Microsoft practices, it would be a really big shame if something were to happen to him. Yet, if he doesn't get serious about security, it is bound to happen, if only for someone to get their 15 minutes of fame.

Maybe the "pie-in-the-face" incident will cause him to "get real".
