wrong, cpq will not be distracted....please give me some proof. in 1982 we presented rosen with a biz plan that said cpq would do 32 million the first yr... it was to get the venture capital money. he handed it back to us and laughed. it's impossible. we did 111 million the first yr and then went on to be the fastest compnay ever to make fortune 500....nothing is impossible. You haven't been in a Sr. management team like cpq or Dell.. you don't know what you are talking about. dell and cpq don't recognize impossible as a word... As part of that team I was asked to deliver the impossible at least a half dozen times a yr. Like complete worldwide mrp/crp regens in 10 seconds. Or a complete system (ERP) implemntation with all the other applications and edi and networks and wiring and phone systems in 5 weeks in a brand new plant 3000 or 13000 miles away..... you have no idea the impossible things that are requested and performed by the Sr. management of dell and cpq.... SO, name some proof...any proof.. this week mason and pfief have been explaining the plan to analyst.. they think it's possible now, in fact , as miracles go, this really is a small one and greater things have been accomplished. There's 4 billion of cash that is so easy to pick a baby can do it out of dec deal, cheap alpha,64 bit intel and intel chips happen automatically, dec's are going to sell at enterprise level, cpq does need some plants...they are there, and the service and support group will make the 50% gross margin... and on and on..these happen with ease. more here. exchange2000.com there will be a 500 million one time charge for layoffs and some consolidation.
