I think what you have said can be worth a lot. A solution to a problem can be staring you in the face, and yet it's not seen. Later, hindsight is 20/20 vision. <<I don't think we spent more than half of our time at work doing the work we were "supposed" to be doing>> I used to be the lead egineer on a night shift only team. No cameras or connection to the other shifts other then the passdown hour, which sometimes took longer then an hour. The nighshift was unspervised, essentially, and lots of time was spent just doing stuff we weren't strictly supposed be doing. We took note of the prority list though. Amazing the amount of good things we would pump out. I used to wonder what held the other shifts back so much. Dealing with senior mangements direct glaring eye can be an issue. My dad, who was a senior civil engineer, or site manager, told me his job would have been unworkable in the mobile phone era.
