Hi Chowder:
Excluding CEF's, if you had to choose only 20 of your stocks in the OFP based on valuation, safety, yield, and dividend safety , it would be great if you had the time to just list them.

Re: Old Folk Portfolio ... Add on buys.

Today I added $1K each to CMI .. NDAQ .. NKE.

These are relatively new positions in this portfolio and it is my wish to keep building these positions up in size one small step at a time.

A full equity position in this portfolio is $150,000. With the add on on buys today, the current position size of today's purchases are:

CMI ....... $6,922
NDAQ ... $7,145
NKE ...... $5,731

Dividend growth did play a part in wanting to own these companies.

CMI has a 98 Very Safe dividend rating according to Simply Safe Dividends. The yield is 2.47% and the 5 year dividend growth rate is 9%.

NDAQ has a 61 Safe dividend rating. The yield 1.09% and the 5 year dividend growth rate is 17%.

NKE has a 99 Very Safe dividend rating. The yield is 0.68% and the 5 year dividend growth rate is 12%.

Hello Chowder,

Reviewing your port, it looks like you don't own many individual REITs, is there a reason for that?
Thanks

Today I started a new position in SPGI in the Older Folk Portfolio. I opened a new position with $4K to begin with. The market has been showing weakness lately and thus I have been buying smaller purchases to get started and will add if the market or specific company performance strengthens.

A full equity position in this portfolio is $150K.

Since I have exceeded the income number required to meet this year's income objective, I am looking for capital gain growth going forward. In looking at total return, I'm looking for assets that have outperformed the S&P 500 in the 3, 5 an 10 year time frames. The reason for beating in all 3 time frames is that I am looking for consistent performance. I believe consistency helps strengthen one's resolve in sticking with the process.

Total Return Results:

3 years - SPGI .. +116.9% ... S&P 500 .. +61.48%
5 years - SPGI .. +290.3% ... S&P 500 .. +129.7%
10 years - SPGI .. +1,140% ... S&P 500 .. +357.5%

S&P Global Inc., (SPGI) together with its subsidiaries, provides ratings, benchmarks, analytics, and data to the capital and commodity markets worldwide. The company operates through four segments: S&P Global Ratings (Ratings), S&P Global Market Intelligence (Market Intelligence), S&P Global Platts (Platts), and S&P Dow Jones Indices (Indices). The Ratings segment offers credit ratings, research, and analytics to investors, corporations, governments, municipalities, commercial and investment banks, insurance companies, asset managers, and other debt issuers. The Market Intelligence segment provides multi-asset-class data, research, and analytical capabilities that integrate cross-asset analytics and desktop services to investment managers, investment banks, private equity firms, insurance companies, commercial banks, corporations, professional services firms, government agencies, and regulators. The Platts segment offers essential price data, analytics, and industry insights for the commodity and energy markets. It serves producers, traders, and intermediaries within the energy, petrochemicals, metals, and agriculture markets. The Indices segment provides index that maintains various valuation and index benchmarks for investment advisors, wealth managers, and institutional investors. The company also offers analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data visualization systems to Wall Street's premier global banks and investment institutions, as well as the National Security community; subscription and custom reports on bank deposits, loans, fees, and other product data to the financial services industry; and insights on global supply chains. The company was formerly known as McGraw Hill Financial, Inc. and changed its name to S&P Global Inc. in April 2016. S&P Global Inc. was founded in 1860 and is headquartered in New York, New York.
