Tom,

"Are there any Asian countries where the liberalization of the telecoms market has improved the profitability of the old monopoly provider?"

Two examples would be PHI-Phillipines and HKT-Hong Kong. I think KSO operation was smart move by Indonesia. The terms of the agreement were put together by TLK. Now one can see the wisdom of getting overseas risk money to build their infrastructure. IMO TLK will benefit a lot from this in the long run with increased incremental revenue. The people who invested from overseas will not see return on their capital for a long time.

Any way we both agree fundamentals do not matter on the valuation of TLK at the moment.

GRL is a very good stock and in the long run turn out to be a better buy. I was looking to buy GRL @ 10 it never got there. I did buy IIT @ 11 and sold it recently. At current prices TLK appears to have better risk / reward.

Best wishes,

Jyoti

Tom:

Could you say more about "I invest directly in the local market". Are you an Indonesian resident? Otherwise, what is your method for investing directly.

Thanks, peter michaelson
