Hi Taylorm,
"We definitely will be moving into their space, John Warnock, Adobe's chairman and chief executive officer, said in an interview."

I don't underestimate Adobe's ability to do this....And, they certainly are obliged to attempt to do this because as the article concludes:
"Adobe Illustrator is the most popular graphics program among Macintosh users. But the travails of Macintosh manufacturer Apple Computer Inc. have destabilized that and other Macintosh markets, prompting Adobe to broaden its sources of revenue."

However, speaking as a user IMHO Adobe may have a longer row to hoe than this article would indicate. Photoshop at around $500 combined with Illustrator at around $400 are indeed really powerful programs. So powerful that the business user with intermediate skills ( like myself ) has to ask, "do I need all that?"

"Mr. Warnock said Adobe has begun testing consumer reaction to a simplified version of its Illustrator program priced at under $100 (U.S.) that would directly compete with CorelDraw software aimed at home users and small businesses."

As a consumer, CorelDraw ( bundled with PhotoPaint and some other stuff ) at around $500 has most all the functionality I need. And I think I need more than a $100 cheapy version of Illustrator.

Finally, IMHO there may be a bit of "backlash" Adobe may find surprising. For many years the Adobe/Mac establishment has sung the "We Are Better Than You" song in the faces of the P.C. graphics market.
Regards,
Kurt P.

This Adobe plan to move in on the only remaining profitable Corel product line must be the announcement we have all been waiting for.

Hahahaha!

Happy Investing!
