For the general direction of the DOW, I looked at the 25 day cumulative sum of the advance decline. Above 0 was bullish, below 0 was bearish.

I primarily traded commodities. For the commodity markets, I developed a system which I used in conjunction with the fork. I could explain it to you, but it might get complicated. With this system, major turning points are detected before it becomes too obvious. The fork shows you lines of attraction. My own system shows you areas that confirm a major turn in direction.

There are also specific daily chart patterns that are reliable. Trading cycles are also important.
