AOL has been a painful short for me since shorting it in the mid 70's; but I believe in the prospects of the company ;-). Who says shorts can't be long time investors? :-)
I am very encouraged by the fact that for the last 3 days I have received 1 CDROM per day from AOL from different sources; shows that there is desperation of some sort on top of the lawsuit filed yesterday about inadequate resources to handle existing customer base.
They are pyramiding and it can go on only for so long.

Navigation site competition!

>>C-net in content deal with Bloomberg <<

cbs.marketwatch.com

Little by little the competition keeps heating up to establish general purpose navigation sites. IMO, AOL and YHOO are the leader today and command outlandish valuations. By next year this time, the competition will be very severe for advertising dollars. XCIT, LYCOS, MSFT, C-net, and who knows who else will be competing for a relatively fixed amount of ad dollars in any given year.

It will be an interesting shakeout and I fully expect YHOO ands AOL to be hit the worst regardless of how good a company they are.
