Netscape in talks with AOL, Oracle, Sun, IBM - WSJ
Thursday February 5, 7:29 am Eastern Time

NEW YORK, Feb 5 (Reuters) - Netscape Communications Corp (NSCP - news) is considering selling some or all of the company, and is talking to several of the large players in the technology industry, the Wall Street Journal said Thursday in its electronic edition.
Citing people familiar with the situation, the newspaper said Netscape is holding serious discussions with America Online Inc (AOL - news), Sun Microsystems Inc (SUNW - news), Oracle Corp (ORCL - news) and International Business Machines Corp (IBM - news).

AOL, for example, has discussed taking over or buying Netscape's popular World Wide Web site, the newspaper said.

No deal is believed to be imminent, the newspaper said. Netscape's chief financial officer declined to comment, as did Oracle and Sun.

Spokesmen at IBM and AOL couldn't immediately be reached, the newspaper said.

Buffet and the market

It seems to me that Buffet is about a year ahead of the market in terms of his perspective. He was acquiring silver last year and thus has an enormous profit built into his holdings.

In this day of complex transactions, when Soros hits a currency and moves into and out of treasuries before others even think to buy, where can we find someone who would understand what Buffet is doing.

Certainly not in today's general press. I can barely find out from the general press which Japanese banks are at risk from their Indonesian exposure. And that is critical information!
