You can justify it anyway you want. The fact is that over the past 40 years the national debt has ballooned every time we've had GOP in power. The condiments...ehm justifications and tertiary spendings change. The meal stays the same. 40 years of track record is rather hard to argue with.

BTW, in case you think that I am a partisan Democrat, should look up what I was saying about Obama and the dems in his 2nd term. And for the record, I think Biden's handling of the Afghanistan exit was very incompetent and disgraceful. I also think Trump admin was so incompetent and corrupt to be on par with some of the LatAm nations.

{ Initial stimulus was a preemptive strike in reaction to the unknowns of a global pandemic. Everything was perceived to be lurching to an abrupt halt. By the beginning of this year, we were able to see that everything was recovering and the economies of the world were functioning with only hiccups here and there. Therefore there was no reason to continue stimulus other than for political theatrics and agenda pushing.}

With only a week from the beginning of this year not everyone could "see" that everything was recovering and the economies of the world were functioning. But, some were great at political theatrics and agenda pushing.
